Sacraments

The seven sacraments

Grouped as the Church groups them: the sacraments of initiation, of service and of healing. Adults seeking Baptism begin with Become Catholic.

Sacraments of Initiation

Baptism

The first sacrament of initiation and the gateway to the others: we are freed from sin and reborn as children of God.

Holy Communion

The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life: bread and wine truly become the Body and Blood of Christ.

Sacraments of Service

Matrimony

Signifies the union of Christ and the Church, giving spouses the grace to love each other as Christ loved his Church (CCC 1661).

Couples: call the office at 416-241-3101 well before your date.

Holy Orders

The sacrament of apostolic ministry, with three degrees — bishop, priest and deacon (CCC 1536).

Sacraments of Healing

Reconciliation

Given by Christ to the Church, by which we are freed from sins committed after Baptism.
